iExperience: Term 3

Learners: Darren & Samara                                 Habitat: LH1
Learning Coach: R. Moopanar                            Date: 25.07.17
Learning Area: iExperience - ICT     Key Competency: Participating and Contributing
Learning Observed
This term our focus is on how we can be curious citizens. In order to launch this the learners participated in a curious google docs creation where they collaboratively explored and brainstormed ideas about their holidays. The lasting understanding from this iExperience was that we can be connected in a variety of ways and display these connections by predicting and processing what the steps are in the creation of a google doc. It was great to see the learners supporting each other in being curious and deciding what how to create the document and  hear them describe their documents as an example of how we can recall and connect with others.  All of the learners displayed their capabilities by working independently on their own google doc. The documents can be seen in the learner’s  Google drive.

iExplore: Darren's in the Garden

Learner: Darren
Date: 4 May, 2017
Learning Area: iExperience (Science)
Living World Level 1-2
Recognise that all living things have certain requirements so they can stay alive
Learning Coach: P.L
Learning Observed
During our morning iExplore sessions learners had the opportunity to choose what activity they would like to participate in. Darren chose to learn more about our habitat garden. He showed collaboration by working well with others around him to clean out the weeds from the garden and prepare the garden for a new lot of seeds to be planted. He was capable in using the gardening tools correctly and safely while others were around him. He made connections with his learning to the year prior in gardening and was able to apply this while he was outside in the garden. Darren was curious about what he would find in the garden and what could be planted in it this term.

This term our focus is on how we can be connected citizens. In order to launch this the learners participated in a connected road safety activity where they collaboratively explored and brainstormed ideas about Bike safety. The lasting understanding from this iExperience was that we can be connected in a variety of ways and display these connections by predicting and processing what could happen if we don’t follow instructions on bike safety from the checklist. It was great to see the learners supporting each other in being curious and deciding what how to colour in and to hear them describe their posters as an example of how we can recall and connect with others.  All of the learners displayed their capabilities by working independently on their own poster and designs. The posters can be seen displayed in the learner’s  iExperience books.
